Punch Art

Good Morning!
I felt in the mood to do some Punch Art yesterday. I found some clothes pins at the Dollar Store and decided to decorate them and turn them into "Clips"

I found the idea on Kathie McGuire's blog: www.kathiemcguire.blogspot.com

I used a variety of designer Series paper, punches, buttons, Rhinestone brads. I used Tombow all purpose adhesive to adhere the paper to the clothes pin an to glue  on the embellishments. Chocolate Chip Classic ink was applied with a  Stamping Sponge which helped the pins have more of a vintage look. On the two pins on either end, I used the new  Lace Ribbon Border Punch from the New 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog. While I was working with the clothes pins, I made our daughter, Pam, nine "Find the Color" matching games for her Pre-School classes.
 She has (32) 2 1/2- 5 year olds.
In the beginning, I was going to make all the color circles like the one above.
But when Pam told me she would need 8-9 of these, I reconsidered and made 8 more in a different style.
The circle is a 12" piece of card board that Pizza's store uses to put the pizza on before going into the pizza box. I wanted something sturdy but not too heavy for little hands. The top circle is measured into 8 pie shapes and designer series paper was applied. I covered clothes pins to match the designer series paper.  I added  a 2 3/8" Scalloped Circle and one of Stampin' Up! Game Spinner Hands which will be a carry over into the new catalog. When the game is played the child is given one clothes pin and  clip the it on the matching color.
Besides helping learn colors and matching images, this game helps the children with the eye and  hand coordination that they need when using safety scissors.
The second game is played the same way, except for the Spinner Hand. I used the 2 3/8" Scallop Circle  Punch instead of the pie shape paper. That was much easier and it went fairly quickly.
I hope you enjoy my clothes pin creations.
Come back soon and visit.
Happy Stamping!
Jane

  1. As my husband is recovering from a stoke that has caused aphasia, memory and eye sight loss, this would also be a good lesson for therapy of stroke patients. Thanks for sharing such a great idea. Yvonne Hamblin
