Holy Family

I was driving home Tuesday night and saw a lawn decoration made with the word "JOY" with an image inside the "O" of Baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph. As soon as I saw this, I was inspired to make this card using our Serif Essentials Alphabet Die using the Big Shot Machine. I used Rich Razzleberry card stock for the base of the card and for the letters. Cut out a Top Note and embossed it with the folder, Petals-A- Plenty. I used the Ticket Corner Punch, added Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon and attached the Top Note to the card Base. I then stamp an image from the Holy Family Stamp set from the Holiday Mini and colored it with Lavender Lace, Lovely Lilac, Summer Sun, and Ballet Blue Stampin' Write Markers. I attached the letters with Stampin' Dimensionals and applied two coats of Crystal Effects to the letters only.

Winter Wonderland in Kalamazoo, Michigan

Good Morning!
Thursday 9:03 a.m. It's a very cold 9 degrees here in Kalamazoo. We have been under a Blizzard Warning since yesterday at 1:00 p.m. We are getting an inch of snow per hour and expect the Blizzard to continue until this afternoon at 4:00 p.m. Winds are gusting up to 50 mph. The photo on the left is of our 80 foot Blue Spruce in our back yard. The photo on the right is of our front yard. The three trees in the center of the photo have lights on but due to the snow, you can't see them. It's beautiful! I'm staying in today and doing my favorite thing....stamping.

I Wish and Christmas Jingle Scrapin' Kit Frame

I Wish and Christmas Jingle Scrapin' Kits were used to make this Christmas Frame. I found the frame at my local Craft Store and right away thought of using it with the Scrapin' Kits. The frame is  5" x 7". I measured the DSP that comes with each kit to make individual boxes and framed them in Chocolate Chip Textured Card Stock that came with the I Wish Kit. All I had to do was attach the self-adhesive die cuts and I was finished. What a cute idea to give someone special for Christmas!

Big Shot Christmas Card Ideas

Here are three ideas for using the Big Shot Machine, the Frame, Oval Scallop Bigz Die and the Impressions Folder Petals-A-Plenty. The first two cards I used Snow Buddies, level 2 Hostess set from the Holiday Mini and Cold & Cuddly set..The card ideas were an accident. I was thinking about different ways to use the Impressions Folder Petals-A-Plenty and the Frame, Oval, Scallop Die together. The Frame, Oval Scallop Die cuts in three pieces. When I saw the oval frame, I knew what I wanted to use it for. I used Whisper White for my card base. With a section cut from Stamping Sponges, I wipped Bashful Blue Classic stampin' pad on the oval frame. Due to being embossed, the look is stunning. Next, I stamped the two Snow Buddies on the card base. Tip: Before stamping your image, trace around the frame on the wrong side with a pencil. This way you will be able to stamp your image within the frame area. After stamping the image with Stazon Black ink, I erased the pencil marks. I stamped snowflakes from the Snow Buddies set inside the frame area, colored in the snow buddieshats, scraf and ice skates with Stampin' Write markers; Celery Green, Only Orange and Melon Mambo. I attached the frame to the card base, used Crystal Effets and Dazzling Diamonds and added a Bashful Blue Taffeta 3/8" Ribbon bow on the left side of the frame and Merry Christmas from Teeny Tiny Wishes set.

Cold & Cuddly set: I used the same technique with this card only using the Polar Bear from the Cold & Cuddly set. I stamped the Polar Bear with Encore Gold, cut him out. I stamped the Ice float with Stazon Black, and colored with Bashful Blue Stampin' Marker  and cut out. I added the cup of hot cocoa, stamped in Chocolate Chip on the card base. After attaching the bear and the ice float with Stampin' Dimensionals, I applied Dazzling Diamonds. I attached a bow from the Kraft Taffeta 3/8" Ribbon.

Oranment Punch Card:
I used Whisper White card stock for the base. Attached at 4" X 5 1/4 " piece of Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper. Attached the frame from the Frame, Oval Scallop Die. Added the medium oval from the Ovals Die. On top of the oval I attached a piece of fabric, then attached the Ornament I made from Christmas Cocoa DSP with Stampin' Dimensionals. Added a loop at the top and a bow using the Gold Elastic Cord from the Holiday Mini Catalog. It's hard to see that I used Dazzling Diamonds on this frame too.

It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas Snow here in MIchigan

This is what our back yard looked like at 10:00 a.m. EST on Friday the 4th of December! Just the day before it was sunny and close to 50 degrees. That's Michigan for you. We have a saying here. "Wait 10 minutes and the weather will change." The photo looks cloudy because the snow was coming down hard at the time. We ended up with 4 inches. Grand Rapids, which is just an hour north of us got 10 inches overnight and Grand Haven off from Lake Michigan got 15 inches! This is what the weatherman calls lake effect snow.Winter is here in Michigan. I'ts beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Featured Guest Artist

This beautiful Butterfly piece was made by Phyllis Cooper, my taltented sister in-law. Phyllis has been a featured artist on my blog before. This time she used a butterfly template intended for favors for the bride and groom at their wedding reception. Instead of using black for the groom and white for the bride, Phyllis transformed this template into  a sea of purples. She added the butterflies which she made using Stampin' Up! Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die, attached them to straws, added some silk flowers and the outcome is absolutely stunning!
No stamping here but look what you can make with some paper and the Big Shot Beautiful Butterflies  Die!
