Stampin' by Sarah

Today I'm featuring our 15 year old granddaughter, Sarah.
She and I stamped together last week. Here's what she came up with. I hope you will enjoy her work.

Sarah used Betsy's Blossoms stamp set.

Her idea using the now retired Inspired by Nature set.

Sarah decorated her envelopes to add a special touch to her projects.
Sarah will be a Sophomore at Paw Paw, High School in the fall. She is interested in Art Therapy and working with children. Next spring break Sarah is traveling to Europe to visit Rome, England and Germany with other classmates to study works of art and sculptures.
Sarah has been stamping and scrap booking since she was three years old.

Designer Series Paper Cards

Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper

As I was looking through my designer series paper yesterday and I was struck by the beautiful papers Stampin' Up! make available to us. Beyond the Garden is exquisite.
I decided to make some cards using the paper and very little stamping. Here's what I came up with.

Colors are Whisper White and Pacific Blue

Another Whisper White and Pacific Blue card. I added flowers and leaves from the Fabulous Florets set from the Summer Mini Catalog  along with Whisper White  3/8" Taffeta  Ribbon.

Another card using the Beyond the Garden designer series paper,  the Fabulous Florets stamp set and 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon.
This card I used  Daffodil Delight1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, Extra-Large Scallop Oval punch, Modern Label Extra Large punch and the Word Window Punch.
This card features Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Wild Wasabi colors along with the Fabulous Florets stamp set and 3/8" Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon.
These card don't take long at all to make once you know what you want to do with them. As you can tell, I love this paper and use it often.  It will be available until August 31st.
If you have some designer series paper just sitting on the shelf, check it out, you can come up with stunning cards that are easy and fast to make. You get a lot of bang for your buck with Stampin' Up! Desiger Series Papers!

Mother's Day Cards

MOTHER'S DAY CARDS

I used Bordering Blue, Whisper White, Certainly Celery card stock, Bella Birdes (retired) Designer Series Paper, the Lattice Die, Square Lattice Embossing Folder from the Summer Mini (#119976) , Whisper White Satin 5/8 inch Ribbon and Frost White Shimmer Paint from the Holiday Mini (#1168540) which is still available; I used 30%  Shimmer Paint and 70% Rubbing Alcohol. I used a spray bottle from the Dollar Store. Be sure to shake before using and protect your work surface.
The Summer Mini available May 1st has a Color Catcher to protect your work area from overspray. It's made of corrugated arboard, easy to assemble, compact and portable.  Dimensions once open, 10" x 10" x 10". # 121093

The Summer Mini also has four "Smooch Spritz" pearlized accent sprays to add a splash of color to your projects.
Colors include:

Gold Glow # 118770
Silver Foil #118771
Vanilla Shimmer #118772
Log Cabin #119921

I used Cindee Wilkinson's recipe for my flowers. Directions below.

TO MAKE FLOWER

6 scallop circles (Scallop Circle Punch) , 2 each of the 2 smaller circles on the Circles #2 Die (10 circles total)
2 of one pattern  Designer Series Paper
2 of another pattern Designer Series Paper
1 Bordering Blue card stock
1 Barely Banana card stock
2 one pattern small circle
2 one pattern larger circle

Lay circles on a covered surface and spritz with water. I spritz both sides of the card stock.

Crumble up each one until its in a ball. Flatten out a bit and stack them.

With piercing tool make a hole in the middle for the brad. Put them all together with a brad and crumple each one starting with the top circle until all the circles are tight together; fluff your flower until you get the look you are happy with.

I spritz each flower with my Frost White Rubbing Alcohol mixture and let dry overnight. When the flowers are dry they are kind of stiff and will hold their shape.

Adhere flowers to the card using 2 Stampin' Dimensionals.

I hand cut the leaves from Certainly Celery card stock and spritz them with the Frost White Shimmer mixture, let dry before applying them to the card.

                                                       MORE MOTHER'S DAY CARDS

I made a couple of cards using the flowers from the Pretties Kit. One card I used Bride Whisper White Speciality Paper.  I spritz the card and the flowers with Frost White Shimmer Paint mixture. On the pink card I used Pretty In Pink card stock, 3/8 inch Taffeta Ribbon, and Pretty In Pink Stampin' Marker to color the ends of the flower and the center. I ran the Whisper White card stock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

On the above card I brayerd Bordering Blue Stampin' Pad over the Whisper White card stock after I ran the card stock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

I needed to mail all of my cards and thought of the Sweet Treet Cups and Padded Envelopes. I didn't attached the Sweet Treet Cup but laid it over the flower and slipped the card into the Padded Envelope. The card fit just snug enough to hold the cup in place.

Sneak Peek what is coming in the Summer Mini

Here's a Sneak Peek...one of many! This set is called Elements of Style from the Summer Mini. Available from May 1, 2010-August 31, 2010. I love this set and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to make my sister in-law Linda this card for her birthday. She's an April baby. Linda and I have been friends for over 53 years. We met when my family moved to her neighborhood and Linda and I started walking to school together. Oh, that was back in the day.... We had so much fun together, giggling, talking about boys, stopping at the neightborhood grocery store on the way home to buy candy. As we got older, and started dating, we would dream of marrying twins, live next door to each other, have kids the same age, etc. Well, we didn't marry twins but we did marry brothers. Linda married Warren and I married Norris.  Linda and Warren's boys are the same age as out two oldest children. Then, we had little Mary too. Well, the children are all grown up and have children of their own. The four of us married within two weeks of each other and we will be celebrating our 45th wedding anniversaries in August!
Gee...I got carried away going down memory lane...now, on with the card.

That's why I used the phrase from the stamp set; "Life is a matter of moments" on the front of her card.
Time passes so quickly. We need to enjoy each day and be sure to tell your family and friends how much you love and appreciate them.

Card Recipe:
For the base of the card, I used the exclusive staionery kit from the Occassion Mini called Country Living Cards a' la carte. The kit comes with 24 sheets of  uniquely designed 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" printed paper, Ballet Blue Stampin' Spot and three stamps with culinary images. For Linda's card I used the paper and Ballet Blue Stampin' Spot along with Certainly Celery, and Apricot Appeal.  The front of the card is Whisper White card stock.

Apricot Appeal and Ballet Blue will be retiring at the end of June. If you simply can't live without them, order them now while supplies last. To order any of the current Stampin' Up! products go to my Stampin' Up! website at: http://janegiggy.stampinup.net/
